Harrsion Burton leaves AM Racing, now what, Oct 8th?!

Harrison Burton has officially left the team whose fortunes he turned around this year and has had a great year with AM Racing. The partnership made the postseason this year after most fans had dismissed Burton and AM Racing after tough 2024s, but now that they’re broken up, what happens next?

Burton to Sam Hunt Racing?!

Another midpack team in the Xfinity Series, while it wouldn’t be an upgrade in terms of speed, it looks like it’s the most likely. How could this team already be in pole position for the Harrison Burton sweepstakes? Well, NASCAR’s most famous leaker on X/Twitter is already dropping hints. Saying “on the hunt for a new ride.” Obviously hinting that he’ll join the other Toyota Xfinity team. Of course, he came up through the ranks with Toyota racing in trucks with KBM and JGR, so he could be rekindling that relationship.

Burton to help revive RFK or Penske in Xfinity?!

Now to speculate on teams that don’t even exist yet, because that’s always fun. There’s a bad reason to think that at least one of these elite Cup teams will reopen their Xfinity programs. Haas, who was carrying the Ford Xfinity flagship, is going to Chevy next year. There’s a massive hole they need filling, and while they could give AM Racing and RSS Racing all the money, still only having two Xfinity teams is very limiting, so telling one of your A-tier Cup teams who’s won titles in that same series before to do them a favor would be logical.

If that does happen, Burton has his reasons to be on either team. Obviously, when it comes to Penske, his time at Wood Bros would prove important. As Wood Bros has a strong alliance with Penske, no doubt, he can use the connections there to get a race-winning seat. Then, of course, Harrison Burton’s father, Jeff Burton, has a great history with Roush. Racing with them for many seasons and winning many races together, so I’m sure I don’t have to tell you who can pull the strings there to get him an RFK ride.

But what about Burton going to Kaulig?!

It might seem out of nowhere, but that’s only if you don’t think about it. With Kaulig throwing their weight behind the RAM/Dodge comeback, he has family ties he can use to get a ride there! Ward Burton, his uncle, was one of Dodge’s strongest soldiers, winning multiple races in the Cup Series with Dodge and Bill Davis Racing. Including the 2002 Daytona 500 in a historic upset. He even finished top 10 in the Winston Cup Series points multiple times with Dodge and BDR!

So if they want to milk those nostalgia bucks, or Ward Burton still has some pull with Dodge. He could get his nephew an Xfinity ride with Kaulig for 2026 or, even better, a Cup ride. If Harrison Burton is still interested in Cup, which is unknown right now. Kaulig could provide Harrison Burton with a cup ride in 2026 if they don’t want to bring back in-season tournament runner-up Ty Dillon. If not, then they’re a more competitive Xfinity team than AM and could be building back up by forming such a close relationship with Dodge, meaning they’ll only get better!

Harrison Burton to RCR?!

Lastly, another strong one due to his family connections. While RCR has resigned longtime mainstay Austin Hill for 2026, the status of Jesse Love remains unknown. However, even if Love comes back to RCR, there’s nothing stopping RCR from opening a 3rd car in this case. Now, of course, his dad, Jeff Burton, is someone who has a great history with RCR as well. Winning many races with them in the 2000s and making multiple chase appearances. Plus, HB has the sponsorship to justify it, and with his great results in 2025, RCR really has every reason to sign him if they want to. Thanks a bunch for reading!
