Josh Berry wants blood after Carson Hocevar wrecks Ricky Stenhouse Jr. at Nashville: ‘Might finally see the No. 77 get punched’

Carson Hocevar hit Ricky Stenhouse Jr. at Nashville, and Josh Berry believes something big will happen after the race. On his radio, Berry said that Stenhouse might punch Hocevar for hitting him.

“Might finally see the No. 77 get punched after that,” Josh Berry said. The wreck happened early in Stage 2 of the race. Stenhouse was looking to have a strong finish to stay in the race for the playoffs, but the wreck ended his night early.

Berry wanted to see what everyone saw last year. After the NASCAR All-Star Race, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. punched Kyle Busch for wrecking him and ending his night before everyone else. Before this year’s NASCAR All-Star Race, Stenhouse was asked about the fight and if he had any regrets.

“I wouldn’t say regrets. I think I would still be fired up if I got crashed on Lap 1 again this weekend — on purpose, obviously,” Stenhouse said, per NASCAR.com. “So I mean, if you get crashed on accident, it’s one thing. Crashed on purpose is a totally different thing, especially an exhibition race, not going for the win. So yeah, I mean, definitely no regrets. I think I gained a decent amount of fans out of it. It cost a little bit, but yeah, it’s part of it. I think, hopefully this year, I don’t plan on being out the first lap and plan on making the end of the race, so hopefully that all works out.”

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Carson Hocevar were both fighting for a win to clinch a spot in the playoffs. Berry doesn’t have to worry about that since he won the Las Vegas race in March. He will compete in the postseason in his second season as a full-time Cup Series driver.

“I’m just thankful to be in the situation I am driving fast race cars,” Berry said after the Las Vegas race, per the Associated Press. “With my experience on the short tracks, you think that’s where you’re going to win. But if I’ve learned anything in this sport it is that you never know when it’s going to be your day.”
