Katherine Legge Confirms NASCAR Cup Comeback at Watkins Glen

Last year, Legge took part in 7 races, becoming the first woman to compete in the Next Gen era. Her appearances with Live Fast Motorsports last year made her the first woman to compete in the Cup series since Danica Patrick’s last start. 

Legge’s sponsor will be long-time partners, e.l.f. Cosmetics, which will also sponsor her at the Indy 500. Legge will make her 5th Indy start and also holds the record for the fastest lap by a woman at around Indianapolis in 2023. 

Why Watkins Glen?

Legge has been a familiar face in the US Racing circuit since her 2006 debut in the Champ Car, a two-year stint in which she became the first woman to lead a lap in the series. 

Speaking on why Watkins Glen, Legge said, “We’ve been looking closely at where to start my NASCAR Cup schedule this year, and Watkins Glen made a lot of sense from both a timing and performance standpoint. This track has always been a favorite of mine.”

Legge competed in the Cup race at Watkins Glen last year, finishing 36th. But she has several hours under her belt at the track with her time in IMSA, where she achieved a win in the GTD class during the Six Hours of The Glen in 2017.

On Watkins Glen, she further added, “It’s fast, technical, and forgiving. To be back here in the Cup car, especially with e.l.f.  on board again this year, makes it really special. It’s a great way to bring together my road course roots with my newfound love for stock car racing.”
