It isn’t often that you can tell a story about Dale Earnhardt that his son, Dale Jr., doesn’t already know about. However, that’s exactly what country music star Kix Brooks did recently, shocking the NASCAR Hall of Famer.
Everyone who knows anything about Dale Earnhardt knows that he was an avid outdoorsman. Hunting and fishing were just as much a part of his life as racing was. You may not have known that The Intimidator was good friends with the Neon Moon country music duo.
Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks were good friends with Dale Sr. Recently, speaking to Marty & McGee for a CMA Fest event, Kix revealed an unreal story about the NASCAR legend. Drivers are known as major pranksters, but this took things to another level in shark-infested waters.
Long story short, while deep-sea fishing together, Dale Earnhardt decided to throw Kix and a bucket of chum into the waters and speed off in the boat. After scaring the country music singer and his wife enough, the boat turned around and picked him up. No harm, no foul, right?

In response, Dale Jr. didn’t have much to say. What can you say after hearing a story like that about your dad? “This is [f***ing] insane,” Earnhardt replied to the post.
Sounds like we need to see Brooks & Dunn on the Dale Jr. Download, right, folks? If they have stories like this, imagine the others that are just waiting to be told.
Things are good right now for Dale Earnhardt Jr. as a team owner. JR Motorsports has gone 1-2 the last two weeks. Chicago, SVG won over Connor Zilisch. This week at Sonoma, Zilisch repaid the favor.
Heck, in the last two weeks, Zilisch is the only driver who can match SVG on the road. The two drivers will almost surely be teammates next season at Trackhouse Racing in the Cup Series. Whoever wins the most road courses will be a toss-up, to be honest.
Zilisch will be one of the most hyped rookies since Joey Logano or Kyle Busch, at least. His talents are unreal on road courses. He straight-up beat SVG at Sonoma and had him beat at Chicago until the final restart.
So, right now, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is doing good on the owner side. At Dover, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Justin Allgaier or Carson Kvapil win at Dover this weekend. It will be very interesting to see how the rest of JR Motorsports does the rest of the season.
