Kyle Busch Names Top 2 Drivers In NASCAR Cup Series

Kyle Busch has put together an incredible career for himself, winning the NASCAR Cup Series championship in 2015 and 2019. That being said, he refuses to refer to himself at the best driver in the sport.

With the Cup Series shifting to Homestead-Miami Speedway for this weekend, Busch spoke to FOX Sports analyst Kevin Harvick. When asked if another competitor in the Cup Series shares his driving style, he made an interesting remark.

Busch suggested that Kyle Larson and William Byron are NASCAR's best drivers in the Cup Series. He referred to them as the "cream of the crop," which is high praise coming from a driver with 63 Cup Series victories.

"The cream of the crop is Kyle or William with this (Next Gen) car," Busch said, via On3. "I would say those two are the guys that are most competitive each and every week. We try to rely on them a lot."

Busch added that he "bounces ideas" off Larson from time to time.

"Kyle and I, we’re close off the racetrack," Buch said. "Our kids race with one another. I bounce some ideas off of him. That’s how I look at it right now, but there’s no clear-cut definitive driving style I would say."

Larson sort of validated Busch's praise on Friday night by winning the Baptist 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. While that was a Truck Series event, it was still an impressive performance considering he was out of the top 20 at one point.

"I wasn’t exactly sure if I could get back up there," Larson said. "I didn’t have the restart I wanted, took a little bit too long to start picking them off and then just got ripping the wall and it paid dividends for me in [Turns] 1 and 2."

We'll see if Larson can keep things up and win the Straight Talk Wireless 400 on Sunday.
