Kyle Busch and Clint Bowyer were NASCAR Cup Series competitors for years. Since the latter moved up to the broadcast booth full-time in 2021, they’ve remained friends.
A week ago at Phoenix, the Fox analyst talked about the Richard Childress Racing driver’s 61-race winless streak and predicted he would return to Victory Lane in 2025. On Sunday, during the pre-race show at Las Vegas, Bowyer reiterated that he believed the No. 8 driver would earn a victory this season for what would be his 64th career Cup win.
Several minutes later, the crew of Chris Myers, Kevin Harvick, Jamie McMurray and Bowyer was discussing Busch’s former Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Christopher Bell and the success he’s had to start the 2025 campaign, winning the last three races at Atlanta, Circuit of the Americas and Phoenix.
During that conversation, the two-time Cup Series champion was walking down the red carpet when he approached from behind, pulled off the lid of the Sharpie in his hand and casually signed the back of Bowyer’s jacket.
The broadcaster had no idea what had happened, smiled and put his hand on the back of the driver as he walked away.

Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time the 39-year-old driver has pulled off such a prank. In fact, it happened in 2022 before the race at Homestead when the-then JGR driver did the same thing to his teammate Denny Hamlin, signing the back of his firesuit. Except the No. 11 pilot realized what had happened and responded: “Nice.”
