Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Kyle Busch , the two-time NASCAR champion is on the brink of an unparalleled achievement in the sport’s history. His spectacular debut season for Richard Childress Racing saw him clinch victory at the prestigious Pala Casino 400, marking his inaugural win with RCR and shattering a unique NASCAR record previously held by the legendary Richard Petty. Now, poised for 2024, Busch stands on the verge of creating a historic milestone.

At the Auto Club Speedway, Busch’s extraordinary skill was on display when won by navigating 28 lead changes and surmounting the challenge of a 32nd starting position. This victory not only marked his first with RCR but also broke a unique NASCAR record held by the legendary “The King” Petty. Notably, Busch had already matched Petty’s record in 2022 with a win at the LA Coliseum, heightening the significance of his latest achievement.

Over the 2023 season, Busch continued to validate his status as the right choice for RCR. Busch’s journey towards this extraordinary achievement gained momentum on his second race for the Richard Childress Racing at the Pala Casino 400 in California. Adding two more victories to his tally over the year, he exemplified why he stands out among the best in the sport.

As the racing world eagerly anticipates the 2024 season, Busch stands on the precipice of an unparalleled accomplishment. If he secures another victory, he will become the first NASCAR driver in history to achieve wins in an astounding 20 consecutive seasons, a feat that adds a new chapter to his storied career and cements his legacy as one of the sport’s all-time greats.

Kyle Busch ‘never doubted’ that he wouldn’t break Richard Petty’s record

After securing a historic victory at Auto Club Speedway, Kyle Busch expressed the profound satisfaction of clinching his 61st career win in the Cup Series and breaking Richard Petty’s record with 19 consecutive seasons of at least one race win. Reflecting on the triumph, Busch speaking to NASCAR conveyed;

There’s nothing more rewarding than being able to go to victory lane. It ranks high. I never doubted myself.

Acknowledging occasional doubts during a challenging 2022 season, he added;

You kind of get down on it, you wonder what's going on and what's happening.

For Busch, the win at Auto Club Speedway wasn’t just about personal success but a testament to the collective effort of his team.

As his first season with Richard Childress Racing comes to a close, this record-breaking victory stood as a powerful affirmation of his driving prowess and adaptability in the ever-competitive world of NASCAR. The NASCAR will revive in less than 2 months at Atlanta, where Busch already holds two wins. It will be exciting to watch if Busch can set the bar to 20 come 2024.
