Kyle Larson names two ‘big races’ he wants to win in NASCAR

Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson is the most talented racer of his generation and one of the greatest 75 racers ever in the sport. He has won 23 Cup Series races in his 11-year career, including a dominating championship run in 2021 with ten race wins. The Californian still has a couple more big races to win in NASCAR.

He is one of the few NASCAR champions yet to win the most prestigious race in the sport, the Daytona 500. It is one of Larson’s target races. He often qualifies upfront for the premier superspeedway event, but luck has never been with him in such tracks as he got caught up in crashes in most events.

Another major race he wants to win is the Brickyard 400. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway hosts the race, known for its iconic Indy 500 race, an open-wheel classic, and one of the Motorsports Crown Jewel Races. Tah track will make its NASCAR return in 2024, after a two-year break, replacing the Road Course race hosted in the same facility.

The Brickyard 400 and the Daytona 500 are the only crown jewels I haven't been able to win in NASCAR. I love winning races, but I love winning the big races. I would love to check those off and add them to the resume. Kyle Larson told Hendrick Motorsports via YouTube.

Kyle Larson’s teammate Chase Elliott has Brickyard 400 on the list

It’s not just Larson who holds Brickyard 400 in his heart. His teammate and 2020 Cup championship-winning racer Chase Elliott sees the Indy race as the most meaningful one. Unlike Larson, the No: 9 Chevy driver has a special reason to choose.

His father, Bill Elliott, a former NASCAR Cup champion, won the event in 2002. It is the first race win Elliott remembers from childhood; hence, he is eager to repeat and expand his family’s legacy.

The one that is more meaningful to me is the Brickyard because I was old enough when my dad won (in 2002) to just very vaguely remember a few little things about it. To be in the photos and whatnot I thought was cool. That one really hits closest to home for me.
