
Kyle Busch’s family has revealed his official cause of death following his unexpected passing.
Medics reportedly rushed Busch to a North Carolina hospital after he became unresponsive during a Chevrolet racing simulator test on Wednesday. He passed away the following day.
The NASCAR driver and team owner is said to have requested medical assistance during a race at Watkins Glen about two weeks ago. Reports said he was dealing with a severe sinus-related issue.
His family disclosed his official cause of death on Saturday. According to the official report, Busch succumbed to severe pneumonia, which led to sepsis.
“The medical evaluation provided to the Busch Family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications,” his family’s statement reads.
On Friday, TMZ Sports obtained 911 audio from the call reporting Busch’s unresponsiveness. The caller said the driver was struggling to breathe, had a high temperature and was coughing up blood.
The individual called 922 around 5:30 PM on Wednesday
“I’ve got an individual that’s shortness of breath, very hot, thinks he’s going to pass out, and he’s producing a little bit of blood, coughing up some blood,” they said.
Busch raced from 2001 to 2026. He was 41 at the time of his death.
