Ricky Stenhouse Jr. message to Carson Hocevar revealed after NASCAR Mexico City confrontation

Following the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez race at Mexico City, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. had some harsh words for Carson Hocevar. The two had had an earlier dust-up on the track.

Stenhouse got into the window netting of Hocevar’s car and could be seen gesturing wildly as he yelled at the 22-year-old driver. His message?

“I told him I was going to beat his ass once we got back in the States,” Stenhouse told The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi.

A video from CBS Sports’ Steven Taranto appeared to show the entirety of the conversation. There was some definite back and forth.

“I’m gonna beat your ass,” Stenhouse said. “You’re a lap down, you’ve got nothing to do! Why’d you run into me for the second time?!”

Hocevar tried to answer that he was locked up. But Ricky Stenhouse Jr. cut in again.

“I don’t give a damn!” he said. “No, I know,” Hocevar said. “I f*cked up.”

“I will beat your ass,” Ricky Stenhouse Jr. concluded. “I will when we get back to the States!”

Point being he was not very happy with Hocevar’s driving. It was an incident that has been building for quite some time at this point.

The two got into it Nashville a few weeks back, when Carson Hocevar spun out Ricky Stenhouse Jr. The two had serious beef a that point, though they talked about quashing it leading up to Michigan.

Apparently another spin was enough to stoke the flames again. But it sure had sounded like the two had patched things up ahead of Michigan.

“I told him, I’m like, ‘Dude, you’re so fast right now, just drive around me,” Stenhouse said earlier this week. “You don’t need to make small percentage moves.’ I mean, they’re obviously showed it (at Michigan), how fast they are right now, the last month and a half. But we’re past that. We got back on the horse this weekend.

“… He definitely feels bad about it. You know, I hope he, at least when he’s around me, thinks about that. Around anybody else, I guess I don’t really care.”

So you can imagine why Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was upset when once again Carson Hocevar spun him out in the stadium section after undergoing some wheel hop. It’ll be interesting to see if the anger carries over to the United States, as Ricky Stenhouse Jr. suggested it would. At the very least, it remains one of the most interesting beefs in NASCAR.
