Ryan Blaney goes off after Darlington wreck

Ryan Blaney has struggled on the track recently. The Team Penske Fords have not had the speed that they had a year ago. Searching for that speed, Blaney was starting to move up in the field when this incident happened. He fought for one and a half stages in order to put himself in position.

Martinsville was the last time Ryan Blaney had a top-5 finish. Since then, he has an average finish of 21.6 in five races. That is not going to cut it for the defending champ. He wants those top-5s and he wants to race for wins. That just isn’t happening right now.

Ryan Blaney fails to make DVP clock

Drivers under the Damaged Vehicle Policy have seven minutes to get on pit road, get repaired, and then make it off pit road. It’s a tough thing to do for a team to make major repairs so quickly and get the car back out on the track.

Blaney just barely missed it. He then went out on the track and thought about dooring Byron under caution. I think it’s a good thing that he didn’t do that. I’m not sure NASCAR would have appreciated him doing that after missing the DVP.

So, it’s onto the next one for Blaney. It was the Coca-Cola 600 when he won his first race of 2023 and went on the run that propelled him to the Cup Series championship. It looks like his 2024 season will hinge on the same race.

Ryan Blaney doesn’t need to let these mistakes and poor finishes add up. Move on and try to do your best at the next one. This team might need the All-Star week just to refresh and be ready to win another Coke 600.
