The Los Angeles Clippers will enter the 2025-26 NBA season as a team to watch in the Western Conference after they made multiple additions to their roster this offseason.
Of course, the Clippers are still led by Kawhi Leonard, Ivica Zubac and James Harden but they also added some key players this offseason in free agency and through the trade market.
In free agency, Los Angeles signed Chris Paul, Bradley Beal and Brook Lopez to upgrade their bench.
Los Angeles also acquired John Collins from the Utah Jazz in a multi-team trade that sent Norman Powell to the Miami Heat.
With these moves, the Clippers are expected to be a threat in the West this season as they try to win the franchise’s first championship.
While the Clippers are set up well entering the new season, they could also elect to make some moves ahead of the trade deadline and these three players could be potential trade candidates for them.
Derrick Jones Jr. put together a great first season with the Clippers last year that saw him average a career-high 10.1 points per game as he played a key role for them both off the bench and in the starting lineup.
Despite this, the Clippers’ additions of Lopez and Collins in the offseason could cut into the 28-year-old forward’s minutes this season, which could open the door for a potential trade.
If Jones Jr. is made available, he should draw interest from many teams around the league and could lead to Los Angeles landing another key player or much-needed draft capital in return.
Like Jones Jr., Kris Dunn also played a key role for the Clippers last season both in the starting lineup and off the bench.
While that was the case last season, his role may be smaller this season with the additions of veteran guards Paul and Beal who could end up taking away key minutes from the 31-year-old veteran guard.
If this ends up being the case, Los Angeles could elect to move Dunn, who may draw interest from some teams around the NBA who are in need of a backup point guard.
In his rookie season last year, Cam Christie did not see much playing time at the NBA level as he played in only 13 games for the Clippers.
That will likely be the case once again this season with the Clippers’ offseason additions at the guard positions, which could lead to the 20-year-old guard being stuck in the G League once again.
Of course, Christie is one of the youngest players on the Clippers’ roster and while he could be a key piece to their future, it may be better off for both him and the franchise to go their separate ways this season by making a potential trade.
If the Clippers do consider trading these players, they would likely be seeking draft capital and key players that will fill the few holes they have in their roster as they look to make a run at a championship.
