3 Potential Trade Targets for Knicks This Offseason
Rick Osentoski-Imagn Images

The New York Knicks have had a great season thus far as they are currently one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.

New York currently sits third in the East standings with a 38-20 record and look as though they are going to be a major threat once the playoffs begin. Of course, the Knicks’ starting lineup has been deadly this season thanks to their star duo of Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns.

While the Knicks still have a ton of their season left to go, it is never too early to look at potential moves they could make in the offseason to better their roster. New York’s starting five is one of the best in the NBA, but they could still look to upgrade their depth and Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley recently named three potential offseason trade targets for them.

The three trade targets Buckley named for the Knicks are Robert Williams III, Isaiah Stewart and Jevon Carter.

Williams III would be a risky move due to his injury history, but he would help upgrade the Knicks’ backup center position, especially defensively. The 27-year-old center is a great rim protector and can also provide a solid amount of offense for the Knicks if they were to make a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers for him in the offseason.

Stewart would also be a great fit with New York. The 23-year-old center is a great defender and rebounder and would fit well behind Towns in the frontcourt. While that may be the case, the Detroit Pistons may not want to move on from him just yet, so if New York wants him, they may have to give up more than they would want to.

The other target Buckley mentioned for the Knicks is Carter. The 29-year-old has seen his playing time reduced with the Chicago Bulls this season, but he is still a solid reserve point guard, which is something the Knicks desperately need.

Of course, the Knicks will likely stick with their current roster in the offseason, but it would be wise for them to upgrade their bench in the offseason, and the three players Buckley named would all fit well in New York.
