Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant formed one of the most impressive duos in NBA history from 2016-19. Their success rivaled that of any combination of players who came before or after them.
The pair won two championships together while making three total trips to the NBA Finals. One question that cropped up from time-to-time during their coexistence was just which player was taking the metaphorical backseat between the two.
Andre Iguodala looks to have shed a little light on that dynamic. During a recent conversation with Shannon Sharpe, the veteran baller broke down the sacrifices that Curry made to play with Durant.
“I think Steph took a back seat every year,” he said.
“I’m talking about stats-wise, numbers-wise, attempts-wise. … Steph was the one that sacrificed the most. How many more threes would he have if KD didn’t come along?”
That is a fact which Iguodala feels has been consistently overlooked when discussing the Warriors' dynasty.
“No one talks about he never complained. Never had an issue,” the former NBA Finals MVP explained.
“Never talked about his brand. His brand possibly could have took a hit. He wasn’t quite selling as many shoes. He just kept it all in stride because he just knew the bigger picture, man. When you win, everything else is going to come how it’s supposed to come.”
As evidenced by his first move when the Warriors won their most recent title -- he found the game ball to give to his point guard -- nobody loves Curry more than Iguodala.
