The Los Angeles Lakers have been given a massive lifeline in the 2022 offseason. After missing the Playoffs in embarrassing fashion last season, the Lakers might be in a position where they have no assets on the team to improve but they can still manage to pull off some serious business due to unfortunate situations around the league.

The most unfortunate situation comes in Brooklyn where Kevin Durant has requested to be traded from the team, a few days after Kyrie Irving accepted his player option to remain for another season with Brooklyn. All of that has changed with KD's trade request.

Many suggest KD may fetch the most expensive trade package in NBA history due to the length of his contract extension that he signed last season. Despite that, Brian Windhorst believes the LA lakers may end up with not just one of them, but with both of them with a massive trade package.

"It has been floated to me by executives that if they were to be kept together, the Lakers can make a package to get the both of them. But we both don't know what KD and Kyrie are together. After seeing what happened when they're together, almost no team with any options would do it. But the Lakers don't have options. So that's the only place I heard where that is possible."

The Nets' biggest incentive in a trade right now are picks because all their picks have been traded over the last few seasons. If they tank, they don't reap the rewards from it. So, trading for players like Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis may carry a risk but gives the Nets the ability to still be competitive.

This trade will most likely never happen, as the Lakers won't part with AD for two older players in Durant and Irving while giving up major assets like the few picks they have left. If this was to happen, LeBron, Kyrie, and KD would probably be a league-breaking trio.
