Nick Young wants to box former Lakers teammate D'Angelo Russell
Animosity remains between former Los Angles Lakers teammates Nick Young and D'Angelo Russell.
The two had a falling out in 2016 after Russell exposed a secretly recorded video showing Young admitting to cheating on his girlfriend at the time, rapper Iggy Azalea.
That wound has yet to close for Young.
A guest on Boxing with Chris Mannix Friday, Young was asked which NBA player he'd like to get in the ring with, and he didn't hesitate to respond.
"D-Lo, D'Angelo," Young said, to which Mannix responded, "that was the easy one; everyone was waiting for that."
While Young didn't name names, Russell isn't the only player he'd like to trade jabs with inside the squared circle. Young added "some guys" on the Lakers and Warriors; even coaches weren't off the table for the 37-year-old.
"I'll tell you what, and I think most people would agree, you could make a lot of money fighting D'Angelo Russell," Mannix quipped. "I think there'd be interest in Los Angeles in that."
Young hasn't played in the NBA since the 2018-19 season. Another former teammate of Young's, J.R. Smith, claimed this week that a group of players, himself and Young included, had been blackballed from the NBA.
On the bright side, if the NBA keeps Young out of the league, maybe he has a future in boxing.
