Anonymous NBA Coach On Lakers’ Luka Dončić Getting In Shape: ‘It’s Going To Be Frightening For The Rest Of The League’

An anonymous NBA coach is scared now that Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Dončić is in shape.

Dončić lost a lot of weight this offseason.

“People should be very terrified,” an anonymous NBA coach told Steve Bulpett of Heavy Sports about Dončić being in shape. “I know I am. He was putting up big numbers (28.6 ppg/career) when he was a chunk. I don’t know if he’ll score more, but he’s got to be a better player when he’s in shape. If he was one of the best players in the league as a blob, you have to figure he’s going to be able to push it even more now.

“If nothing else, his stamina’s going to be a lot better, and that’s really important as the season goes along and you get into the playoffs. I think there’s a much better chance he doesn’t break down and go through some of the injuries he’s had in the past. But I would be terrified. That guy in shape? That’s scary. I saw those pictures. That’s scary. Luka not in shape was amazing. Now? I think it’s going to be frightening for the rest of the league.”

Luka Dončić is already a first-ballot Hall of Famer. He’s made five All-Star teams and five All-NBA First teams. The Lakers point-forward enters next season third in NBA history in points per game.

For the Dallas Mavericks and Lakers last season, Dončić averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.7 assists. If he did that while he was “out of shape,” Dončić may break NBA scoring records next season now that he’s “in shape.”

Dončić has career averages of 28.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.2 assists with the Mavericks and Lakers. He will sign an extension with Los Angeles this weekend.

Dončić is fully committed to the Lakers, as he recruited Deandre Ayton and Marcus Smart
