The New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs followed a contrasting route to the NBA finals. While the Knicks dominated the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0, it was a completely different ball game for the Spurs. In fact, with the Oklahoma City Thunder giving some staunch competition, the series got pushed to Game 7 to get a result. However, analyzing the finals’ matchup, an anonymous NBA scout has made a surprising prediction.
As reported by Tim Bontemps, the anonymous scout is very much impressed with the Knicks’ overall team game. The prediction also stated that Victor Wembanyama might not affect New York as much as he did the Oklahoma City Thunder.
“The way the Knicks play, not sure Victor’s presence is going to have as much of an impact against them as it did Oklahoma City. The Knicks have more of a chance than I thought they did a few weeks ago, but I’m still picking San Antonio in this series,” read the update.

Surely, the analysis does make sense. With the likes of Jalen Brunson showing some impeccable form, New York has been in blazing form. And he is not alone. The likes of Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart, too, chipped in with ample support to make the Knicks look like a menacing outfit.
Meanwhile, as things look equally balanced, here’s a look at how both teams will try to bank on their star power.
Brunson sacrificed a whopping $113 million on his contract. And the Knicks’ front office made sure that they made full use of the financial flexibility. Using the available cap space, the Knicks roped in Anthony Towns and also got Mikal Bridges.
Both the stars have been doing extremely well and will shoulder a lot of responsibility in the finals. Next up, retaining OG Anunoby became the masterstroke as he has combined with Brunson to help the team significantly.
On the contrary, the Spurs will depend a lot on how Victor Wembanyama plays. In the seven games of the conference finals, Wemby averaged 27.3 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists.
His defense was also a notch above the rest as the ‘Alien’ averaged 1.4 steals and 2.7 blocks in just 37.7 minutes of playtime on average. Additionally, Stephon Castle, Carter Bryant, and Dylan Harper will also play a major role in the finals.
