Atlanta Hawks add wing depth by signing Caleb Houstan

The Hawks filled one of their remaining needs this offseason by inking small forward Caleb Houstan to a one year-contract, per Michael Scotto.

A five-star recruit out of Montverde Academy in Florida, Caleb Houstan played his college ball at Michigan before being selected with the 32nd overall pick by the Magic in the 2022 NBA Draft.

Houstan’s numbers through his first three seasons in the NBA don’t exactly jump off the page, as he’s averaged just 4.1 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 14.4 minutes per game. However, he’s still just 22-years-old and has really developed into a sniper from three-point range. Houstan shot an even 40% from beyond the arc last season, and he was above 50% after the All-Star break.

On a one-year deal, this is a valuable depth signing for the Hawks with some decent upside. Houstan never really got consistent minutes while he was in Orlando, and while they may be tough to come by in Atlanta as well, if he continues to shoot over 40% from three-point range, he’ll find his way onto the court.
