Atlanta Hawks Release Injury Report Ahead of Tonight's Matchup With The Warriors
USA TODAY Sports

The Hawks are gearing up for their matchup with the Golden State Warriors tonight, but they might be a little shorthanded when they do so.

After leaving last night's game with an injury, Saddiq Bey has been listed out on the recent injury report with a left ankle sprain. Joining him will be Wesley Matthews, who will be out with right calf injury management.

Dejounte Murray (lower back tightness) and De'Andre Hunter (right knee injury management) are questionable for tonight's game.

Hunter's absence would be a big deal because it would leave the Hawks with few options at the forward position. Seth Lundy was recalled from College Park today and Garrison Matthews will likely see time, but none of them are the caliber of player Hunter is. Bey and Matthew being out is a big deal.

Murray being out would also hurt, but Bogdan Bogdanovic has started several games this year.

Steph Curry is having another fantastic season for the Warriors and despite their struggles elsewhere, they can still score the basketball. Golden State is 7th in PPG, 18th in field goal percentage, 4th in three-point attempts, 9th in three-point percentage, 4th in rebounding, and 25th in turnovers. Per Cleaning the Glass, the Warriors are 11 in points per 100 possessions, 12th in effective field goal percentage, 22nd in turnover percentage, 4th in offensive rebounding percentage, and 17th in free throw rate.

The most incredible thing from the last time these two played a game might be the fact that Jonathan Kuminga did not miss a shot. Kuminga shot 11 for 11 and scored 25 points, tied with Curry for the most in the game. Klay Thompson scored 24 points and shot 5-10 from three. Golden State shot 56% from the field and 49% from three in the game. Kuminga scored 29 points in last night's win vs the Grizzlies and is playing well right now.

The Hawks' defense is perhaps the worst in the NBA, but they have been playing a little better during the win streak. Overall, the Hawks are 29th in PPG allowed, 28th in field goal percentage allowed, 18th in three-point attempts allowed, and 28th in three-point percentage allowed. Per Cleaning the Glass, Atlanta is 26th in points allowed per 100 possessions and 29th in effective field goal percentage allowed.

The defense for the Hawks is going to have to be much better in this game than the last time they played Golden State. Containing Curry and Thompson should be the top goal, but Kuminga is an emerging threat as well.

The Hawks are rolling on offense right now and Young is playing at a very high level. He has scored at least 30 points and topped 10 assists in three of the last four games and he should have the opportunity to do so again.

Atlanta is 3rd in the NBA in PPG, 22nd in field goal percentage, 7th in three-point attempts, 18th in three-point percentage, 4th in free throw attempts, 8th in rebounding, and 16th in turnovers. Per Cleaning the Glass, Atlanta is 12th in points per 100 possessions, 20th in effective field goal percentage, 12th in turnover percentage, 3rd in offensive rebounding percentage, and 8th in free throw rate.

Golden State is not the defensive juggernaut they were when their dynasty was rolling, but they are not among the league's worst defenses. Golden State is 21st in PPG allowed, 16th in field goal percentage, 23rd in three-point attempts allowed, and 12th in three-point percentage allowed. Per Cleaning the Glass, Golden State is 21st in points allowed per 100 possessions and 15th in effective field goal percentage.
