After defeating the Dala Mavericks in a thrilling overtime victory, with Moses Moody scoring 23 points before suffering a season-ending left knee injury in the final minute, the Golden State Warriors are set to face the Brooklyn Nets tonight, who are coming off an eight-straight loss. But it will be another match without Stephen Curry.
He has been out since Jan. 30 with a stubborn knee injury. Dealing with patellofemoral pain and bone bruising has kept him off the court, but it has given him more time at home with his family.
During a recent appearance on Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson’s podcast, IMO, Ayesha Curry addressed a common assumption about their early relationship. She explained that when they reconnected in Los Angeles, she wasn't actually looking for marriage or kids.
Instead, she was focused entirely on her career and didn't see herself settling down at the time. The 37-year-old also flipped the narrative on the "he wasn't my type" rumor, since many people thought Ayesha wasn't feeling Stephen from the jump.
"This is another thing that gets misconstrued," she said on the show. "People for some reason think that in the past I've said that he wasn't my type. What I was saying was, I didn't think I was his type, because this was Mr. Cool.”
She added, “And so I kind of sold myself short in thinking like, oh, there's no way, he must just like me as a friend. So I won't even take it that, I'm glad it didn't. I'm happy I didn't get friend-zoned."
Everyone in the room immediately started laughing. Steph, seated across from her, didn't let the moment pass without getting his version in.
He said, "Every time I texted her or called, she picked up the phone after that, after I was on full-court press mode. After that date, for sure."
And about his injury, head coach Steve Kerr is refusing to rush him back, insisting the medical staff won't clear him until he is 100%. ESPN's Anthony Slater reported that Stephen is officially out for tonight's game against the Nets. He has yet to clear the critical hurdle of participating in a live 5-on-5 scrimmage.
However, Kerr dismissed the idea of sitting his playmaker for the entire season, confirming Steph will play in the play-in tournament if his knee allows, though his availability remains day-to-day.
But there is no denying that his absence cost the team big. The Warriors have lost 16 of their last 23 games and are currently holding an underwhelming 34–38 record.
