Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry arrived via cable car to launch his new bourbon bar, The Eighth Rule, in San Francisco’s Union Square on Tuesday. The four-time NBA champion partnered with celebrity chef Michael Mina to open the 40-seat speakeasy inside the Westin St. Francis hotel. The establishment showcases Curry’s Gentleman’s Cut bourbon brand and represents his first venture into the hospitality industry.
The bar’s name references the seven official rules of bourbon production while inviting guests to create their own eighth rule for gathering. Curry expressed his vision for the space, stating, “I’ve always dreamt of creating my own little haven to bring people together, and now we have the perfect location.” The intimate lounge features amber lighting, velvet booths, and leather furnishings designed to evoke the hues of bourbon cocktails.
Ayesha Curry marked the occasion by sharing a photo of the couple on her Instagram account with a revealing caption about their relationship. She posted an image of herself and Steph posing together at the new establishment with the text, “I always wanted to marry a bourbon man.” Her message specifically celebrated the opening of the @the8thrule bourbon-inspired speakeasy in San Francisco on October 10th.
