Blockbuster Mock Trade Sends Jazz's Lauri Markkanen to Nets for Package Headlined by Young Guard

After finishing with the worst record in the NBA last season, the Utah Jazz will look to bounce back this season as they continue their rebuild.

Of course, the Jazz have put together a solid core led by Lauri Markkanen, Keyonte George and Walker Kessler and they also made some key additions to their roster this offseason.

Utah began their offseason by selecting Ace Bailey, Walter Clayton Jr. and John Tonje in the 2025 draft.

They also acquired Kyle Anderson, Kevin Love, Georges Niang and Jusuf Nurkic via trades, though they also lost some key players as they bought out Jordan Clarkson and traded John Collins and Collin Sexton.

With these moves, the Jazz are looking to improve after struggling last season, though they may elect to make more moves ahead of the trade deadline to add more young talent and draft capital to help with their rebuild.

Jazz Could Trade Lauri Markkanen

One player who has been in trade rumors over the last two seasons is Markkanen and while the Jazz have a high asking price for him, other teams may show interest in him this season.

One of those teams could be the Brooklyn Nets as they have been looking to add a star player to their roster.

Mock Trade Sends Markkanen to Nets for Cam Thomas-Led Package

In a potential trade, the Jazz could send Markkanen to the Nets in exchange for Cam Thomas, Terance Mann, Day’Ron Sharpe, Haywood Highsmith and multiple first-round picks.

Of course, this trade would not be able to be completed until December 3 due to Sharpe’s recently signed restriction and Thomas could also veto this trade due to the no-trade clause in his contract after signing his qualifying offer this offseason.

If this trade did go through, the Jazz would add multiple key players that could help with their rebuild, along with more draft capital.

Thomas would be the headliner of the trade package the Jazz would receive as he would give them another young guard to add to their backcourt who is a lethal scorer, though he is set to be an unrestricted free agent next offseason.

Utah would also land two veterans in Mann and Highsmith that they could move later down the road while Sharpe would give them another solid young center.

While this may be a solid trade package for the Jazz, they may also look to see if they receive a better offer from another team if they elect to move Markkanen this season.
