Even though he’s a Boston Celtics star, it is no secret that Jayson Tatum is a big fan of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.
Before tip-off in Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, the Celtics forward sported a shirt with the same design Bryant wore during a pre-season workout with Boston back in 1996.

Tatum and the Celtics also got the job done in Game 1, as they took down Luka Doncic and the Mavs via a 107-89 score. It was pure domination for Boston from start to finish, and that’s despite Tatum not having a very efficient night on offense.
Tatum scored 16 points on only 6/16 shooting from the field and with just two shots from the foul line, though, he had 11 rebounds and five assists in 42 minutes of action. But Tatum didn’t really need to have an explosive night on offense for the Celtics to beat Dallas. Boston had six players scoring in double figures and brandished a defense that suffocated the usually high-octane Mavericks attack. Dallas shot just 41.7 percent on their field goal attempts and also went just 7/27 from the 3-point region. Doncic had 30 points but he was limited to just a single assist all game long.
Tatum’s homage to Bryant also led to some merciless clowning from fans online.
