Josh Giddey has been a revelation for the Chicago Bulls this season, and the 6-foot-7 guard was looking to keep his foot on the gas in Monday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Entering Monday’s contest, Giddey had averaged a career-high 19.5 points on 47.0% shooting, 9.1 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 1.0 steals in 33.3 minutes per game. The 23-year-old has also knocked down 1.9 triples per contest on a 39.0% clip.

Giddey’s season-long hot streak hit a road bump on Monday night, though, after he was forced to exit the game due to a hamstring injury. He left in the third quarter and was unable to return.

Giddey was seen holding onto his left hamstring after dishing out an assist to teammate Nikola Vucevic. Giddey called the attention of the medical staff and was seen limping toward the bench after the concerning play.

Shortly after the Bulls star headed to the locker room, the team announced that he was ruled out for the rest of the game.

“UPDATE: Josh Giddey (hamstring) will not return tonight,” the Bulls posted on X.

It is unclear when Giddey sustained the hamstring problem, but it appeared to be a non-contact injury.

It is worth noting that the Bulls also lost Coby White during the game. He suffered a calf injury and was also ruled out for the remainder of the contest.

Giddey has played 30 games for the Bulls this season, missing just two games thus far. Chicago should be able to provide an update on his injury status after Tuesday’s contest, but it would not be a surprise if the former No. 6 overall pick is forced to miss time because of this issue.

The Bulls, who entered the Wolves game at 15-16, will be back in action on Wednesday against the New Orleans Pelicans. For now, Giddey’s status for that one can be considered up in the air.
