Bulls forward Derrick Jones Jr. enters health and safety protocols as team faces COVID-19 outbreak

The Chicago Bulls appear to have a full-blown COVID-19 outbreak on their hands.

After guard Coby White and third-year pro Javonte Green tested positive for the virus last week, star offseason acquisition DeMar DeRozan was placed in the NBA's health and safety protocols on Monday. The situation worsened when guard Matt Thomas was placed in the protocols on Wednesday.

Chicago's brutal December continued on Thursday.

Bulls All-Star center Nikola Vucevic missed seven games in November after testing positive for COVID-19. Chicago is not the only team facing a potential issue with the virus this week, as a pair of Eastern Conference foes in the Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors canceled their practices on Thursday "out of an abundance of caution."

Indiana head coach Rick Carlisle was also placed into the NBA's health and safety protocols on Thursday afternoon.
