Arizona forward Carter Bryant is one of the best 3-and-D prospects in the draft this year. He showcased his ability to defend on the wings and knock down open threes despite a lack of playing time to start the season. His skill set and size will cause numerous teams to seek to draft him. Let’s dive into an evaluation of Carter Bryant in this 2025 NBA Draft profile.

College Career

Bryant played his lone college season with the Arizona Wildcats, slowly earning playing time as the season progressed. As a freshman, Bryant averaged 6.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.9 steals, and 1.0 blocks on 19.3 minutes per game. He shot 46% from the field, 37.1% from three, and 69.5% from the free-throw line. While he struggled to earn minutes as a freshman early in the season, Bryant eventually carved out a role as a defensive wing for Arizona. He contributed to helping the team make the NCAA tournament, going as far as the Sweet 16 before being eliminated by Duke.

Strengths

As a player, there is a lot to love about Bryant and his game. Firstly, Bryant has an ideal size at six-foot-seven with a six-foot-eleven wingspan to defend on the wings. Not only that, but he has the quickness and athleticism to be a versatile wing defender who can guard multiple positions. Bryant is excellent at using his length to generate steals and blocks. In particular, he is a skilled shot blocker for a wing, being able to block shots both on and off the ball. On offense, Bryant has demonstrated himself as a solid spot-up shooter. He knocked down 37.1% from three on the season and has a smooth and functional shooting form. Bryant also operates well as an off-ball mover, knowing exactly when to cut to the basket for highlight plays. For his position, Bryant can handle the ball a little and be a connective passer as well.

Weaknesses

One of the main issues regarding Bryant is that he is still raw as a player and needs further refinement. While he has all the physical tools to be a good defender and has shown strong flashes, Bryant is very foul-prone, and he isn’t always locked in defensively. Furthermore, the decision-making on both ends can use improvement. Offensively, Bryant is reliant on others to create good looks for him, as he is not great at shot creation. This even extends to attacking closeouts. Bryant has shown flashes of being able to handle the ball, however, he needs to refine his handle further as he can be turnover-prone. Bryant isn’t a primary playmaker either, and can throw sloppy passes. Also, while Bryant can knock down threes as a spot-up shooter, he hasn’t shown many flashes of being able to shoot threes in more advanced ways.

NBA Comparison

Given his skill set and size on the wings, one player he compares to is Blazers forward Toumani Camara. Both are athletic wings who excel at defensive playmaking and off-ball movement. Another name is Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason. Similar to Camara, both Eason and Bryant are athletic two-way wings who can consistently generate steals and blocks. Not only that, but both can knock down threes as spot-up shooters.
