Plenty is settled for the Cavs entering the playoffs.

That fifth starter spot? Not so much.

Coach Kenny Atkinson said he still hasn’t locked in who will join James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen in the opening lineup.

“I don’t want to say something [now and then] we change [it],” Atkinson said.

Makes sense.

Cleveland rolled through 41 different starting lineups during the regular season, mostly because of injuries and roster moves. That fluid approach isn’t going away now.

“It’s matchup dependent,” Atkinson added.

Which brings the Raptors into the picture.

Guard Immanuel Quickley is dealing with a hamstring issue and is considered day-to-day. His availability could factor into how the Cavs fill that final spot.

There’s no shortage of options.

Dean Wade offers size and defense. Max Strus brings shooting and experience. Sam Merrill can stretch the floor. Jaylon Tyson adds energy and versatility.

Each has had a turn. None has taken control.

“That position is going to be flexible in terms of starting and finishing,” Atkinson said earlier this month. “You have to earn it.”

So, yeah, a final call likely comes just before Game 1, and even that may be temporary.
