Cavs-Pacers Game 1 To Tip Off Sunday Evening

We are closer to something resembling a start time for Game 1 of the Cavaliers-Pacers Eastern Conference semifinal on Sunday at Rocket Arena.

And it all comes down to what happens in a Western Conference first-round series between the Warriors and Rockets.

For the record, the Warriors lead the Rockets by a 3-2 series count and meet again Friday night. That impacts the Cavs-Pacers in the following ways:

If the Rockets win Game 6, then the Cavs-Pacers Game 1 will tip off at 6 p.m. EST, again, on Sunday.

If the Warriors win Game 6, then the Cavs and Pacers will begin at 8 p.m. Regardless of time, the game will be broadcast on TNT. (FanDuel Sports Network Cleveland will broadcast no further games this season.)

The entire series schedule breaks down this way:

  • Game 1 — May 4, Cleveland (6 p.m. or 8 p.m., TNT)
  • Game 2 — May 6, Cleveland, TBD
  • Game 3 — May 9, Indiana, TBD
  • Game 4 — May 11, Indiana, TBD
  • Game 5 — May 13, Cleveland, TBD*
  • Game 6 — May 15, Indiana, TBD*
  • Game 7 — May 18, Cleveland, TBD*
    (* if necessary)

The Cavs, of course, are the No. 1 seed in the East; the Pacers the No. 4 seed. Cleveland finished with a 64-18 record, its first 60-plus win season without LeBron James on the team. James and the Lakers, by the way, have been eliminated from the playoffs.
