With two games remaining in the regular season, Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics have been locked into the Eastern Conference's No. 2 seed for the upcoming NBA Playoffs.
Not having much to play for during the final stretch, the Celtics elected to rest all of their top-six players, including Brown and Jayson Tatum, for Wednesday night's loss 96-76 loss to the Orlando Magic.
Boston will finish out the season with a two-game homestand against the Charlotte Hornets. And even without much to play for, the Celtics' injury report is clean. Except for Brown.
Brown has been dealing with a right knee posterior impingement that has kept him out for numerous games after the All-Star break. On Thursday, the Celtics announced that he will be out once again for Friday's contest.

Jaylen Brown (right knee posterior impingement) - OUT
Brown has been clearly bothered by his knee issue over a couple of games, limited to 22 minutes per night and 21 points total. He was even held out at the end of regulation and overtime in the win over New York.
Going into the mini-series with the Hornets, Brown had played in 63 games this season. To be eligible for awards and All-NBA honors, a player must play in 65 games.
Unfortunately for the 2024 NBA Finals MVP, with only two games remaining, he won’t be eligible to earn his second All-NBA honor this year.
Even if Brown played the final two games and was eligible for an All-NBA team, there was no guarantee of him even making it. Tatum, on the other hand, is looking like he will finish on another All-NBA first-team.
The Celtics will finish the season against the Hornets and Friday and Sunday. Then they await their first-round opponent, getting the winner of the No. 7 and 8 seeds in the play-in tournament.
