The rivalry between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers saw a new chapter unfold on Sunday. Unfortunately for fans, it wasn’t a close outing.
The Celtics dismantled the Lakers 111-89, completing a season sweep of their historic rivals. Jaylen Brown led the charge with 32 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, showcasing his all-around dominance.
Payton Pritchard added 30 points, including six three-pointers, and eight assists, fueling Boston’s second-half surge.
For the Lakers, the loss highlighted ongoing struggles, as they shot just 39.1% from the field amid offensive woes. Luka Doncic led LA with 25 points, while LeBron James added 20.
This defeat came hours after unveiling Pat Riley’s statue and LeBron became the first player in NBA history to reach 43,000 career regular-season points.
Still, the Lakers folded to their rivals. The Celtics’ balanced attack and defensive intensity reaffirmed their contender status in the NBA.
