Celtics fan who threw water bottle at Kyrie Irving charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon

The Boston Celtics fan who threw a water bottle at Nets star Kyrie Irving after Brooklyn's 141-126 Game 4 win is charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, according to Boston Police.

The 21-year-old will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on Tuesday.

Irving addressed the incident after the game, saying, "You can see that people just feel very entitled out here." Celtics star Jayson Tatum also chimed in, saying there's "no place in the NBA" for throwing anything at a player.

Boston fans have been upset with Irving since he signed with the Nets as a free agent in 2019. Before departing the organization, the 29-year-old told Celtics fans that he planned to re-sign with the franchise. Still, that's no excuse to throw something at him.

For most of Sunday night's game, Irving was met with heavy boos from the T.D. Garden crowd, but that didn't stop him from scoring 39 points to go along with 11 rebounds and two assists in the win.
