Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown finished this season with a partially torn right meniscus.

The 2024 Finals MVP told Noa Dalzell of Celtics Blog he may undergo surgery this offseason.

“l got a lot of doctors I gotta get evaluated with — see the potential for surgery versus no surgery, wait to speak to the [Celtics] organization,” Brown said. “For now, it’s just rest and recovery. I’m taking a step back from a long season. Mentally, it was a lot of stuff going on.”

Brown appeared in 63 games for the Celtics this season. He averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists.

After winning the title last year, Boston lost to the New York Knicks in the conference semifinals this year. Brown averaged 22.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists in the 2025 postseason in 11 games against the Orlando Magic and Knicks.

The 28-year-old Brown will make $53,142,264 next season. The California product has career averages of 19.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, Brown will not be traded by the Celtics this offseason despite payroll concerns.

The Celtics have the most expensive roster in the league next season. The team probably won’t be a title contender since Jayson Tatum could miss the entire campaign recovering from his Achilles tear.

“Even though NBA fans love to stir the pot by creating their own trade proposals and ideas, neither Tatum nor Brown are on their way out of Boston entering the summer, league sources confirmed to ClutchPoints,” Siegel wrote.
