Charles Barkley never passes up a chance to troll the women of San Antonio and he was back at it on Tuesday's episode of Inside the NBA . As the crew watched highlights of the San Antonio Spurs' 128-115 win over the Utah Jazz in the NBA Cup, Barkley wildly stated that Victor Wembanyama is the only one in San Antonio who can't put on weight.
"You know what's weird about Wemby? He's like the only person in San Antonio who can’t gain weight," Barkley said. "... I don't understand why this is the only skinny person in San Antonio."
(starts at 0:52 mark):
Classic Barkley right there. This is hardly the first time that he has used Frenchman, who had 34 points, seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, and three blocks against the Jazz, as a means to troll San Antonio. Back during the 2022-23 season, Barkley had a wild explanation for why Wembanyama would be great in San Antonio.
"I'll tell you what, Victor Wembanyama will be great in San Antonio. If he goes to San Antonio, he'll definitely gain some weight," Barkley said. "He won't have to worry about being skinny down there. He won't have to worry about being skinny in San Antonio. Hey, Victor, go to San Antonio, they'll put some weight on you."
Barkley appears a bit disappointed now that Wembanyama hasn't put on much weight after spending over a year in San Antonio. He was listed at 230 pounds at training camp before his rookie season and was at 235 pounds this time. Perhaps the reason behind the lack of weight gain is Wembanyama not knowing what a Churro was when Barkley hilariously asked him about it last season.
Barkley often brought up Churros to troll the women of San Antonio. You can check out some of his "iconic" roasts below.
Barkley hasn't made too many jokes about the women in San Antonio in recent years and there's a good reason for that. Barkley revealed he had been told he wasn't allowed to make San Antonio jokes anymore.
“If you crack a joke the wrong way, they're like, ‘Oh no, no, no, no, you crossed the line,'” Barkley said. “They won’t even let me talk about San Antonio anymore. When I’m always talking about them big ole women down in San Antonio. They’re like, ‘Charles, we got one lady wrote an article.’
"I’m like, ‘First of all, I didn’t call anybody personally fat in San Antonio," Barkley continued. "I was just joking around, and when this one lady wrote this article, I’m like, ‘So y’all gonna let one lady.’ We been having fun with this for probably 10, 15 years, and when we go to San Antonio, the people are having a blast with it. The people in San Antonio, they had T-shirts made up."
I wonder if the higher-ups at TNT had a word with Barkley for this latest comment. Considering how rarely he makes them these days, I think he might have gotten away with it.
