The Minnesota Timberwolves are the first team in the Western Conference Finals, which has made them the most impressive team. They have dispatched two solid teams, the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers, in two five-game series.
Coming into the postseason, the Timberwolves were already rolling. However, they have continued to rise and improve during the Playoffs, beating multiple superstars on the way to the Western Conference Finals. This has caught everybody's attention, including New York Knicks legend Charles Oakley.
The NBA is jam-packed with impressive teams, but the Timberwolves have struck the perfect balance between a talented team and a good coach. They are on an awesome run for Chris Finch because he has cemented himself as the right coach for this team.
In both series, Finch's preparations stood out. Minnesota was always ready for whatever the Warriors and Lakers threw at them. With an extended break between their Game 5 win and Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, Finch will make the Timberwolves a well-drilled team.
In an appearance on Nightcap with Shannon Sharpe and Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, Charles Oakley spoke about the big Game 5 win and how impressed he is with Finch's team.
"One thing to ask... are you a Western Conference Finals team?"

This is significant for the Timberwolves because they are gaining everyone's respect. With Anthony Edwards at the forefront, this team is beating teams with legendary players. They are firmly established as one of the league's best teams, even if they struggled early in the 2024-25 season.
"I think that watching Minnesota this year from last year, Ant-Man is showing how great he's going to be. You gotta give Coach (Finch) a lot of credit. This was a big game, closing out at home. Get ready for next series," Oakley said on Nightcap. "Everybody took a turn tonight, Rudy was inside, Julius was posting up, Conley hitting big threes, Donte doing what he did in New York."
Everyone in the Timberwolves organization wants Finch to succeed. He has done a fantastic job of preparing this team for the opportunity to win multiple Playoff series now. He is now the most successful coach in the Timberwolves' postseason history.
Chris Finch on making it to the WCF again

"The challenge we laid down to our guys from day 1 was quite simple. 1 question. Were you a WCF team? or Were you a team that just happened to make the WCF? And there's only one way to prove that. Go out and do it again." pic.twitter.com/4PNnmz1VlS
The players know Finch's system inside and out, which means they know when they make mistakes. Finch will call that out when it happens, just like what happened at halftime in Game 4 of the Warriors series.
With players like Edwards and Julius Randle leading the charge, the Timberwolves are in a good place. However, they are going to another level with Finch's system. That should be a scary sight for their opponents.
