Chicago Bulls linked to big draft-day trade

The 2026 NBA Draft will begin in a few hours as the first round kicks off on Tuesday night. For the Chicago Bulls, it’s a chance to speed up a rebuild as they have two first-round picks.

At No. 4, the Bulls are expected to take North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson barring any major surprises. But it’s what they do at or with No. 15 overall that could be a big difference in whether or not the rebuild is sped up.

Now, one NBA analyst thinks the Bulls could move that No. 15 overall pick to acquire a former No. 1 overall player.

Will Chicago Bulls trade for Zion Williamson?

Former No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson has been the topic of trade rumors for over a year now. With the New Orleans Pelicans struggling once again and not having their own pick, they may need to make some moves. That could be moving on from Williamson.

Matt Burke of Complex wrote on potential landing spots for Williamson, mentioning the Bulls:

The Pelicans do not have a first round pick in tonight’s NBA Draft, but multiple reports say that Dumars is doing everything possible to get one. Dumars trading away Trey Murphy, Herb Jones or Dejounte Murray seems more likely than him flipping Zion, but anything is possible with the Pelicans at this juncture.

A deal with the Bulls makes a ton of sense, considering that Chicago has two first round picks to dangle (No. 4 and No. 15).

Chicago is in desperate need of finding a marketable superstar to build around, and Zion certainly fits that bill. Of note, the Bulls’ new Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Bryson Graham worked in the Pelicans front office from 2010 to 2025.

Burke also mentioned the Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns as a possible landing spot.

For the Bulls, moving No. 4 overall to get Williamson makes no sense at all. They will have the chance to take one of the top four players in this draft with that pick. It seems more likely the Bulls would trade No. 15 and more to land Williamson if they were to even try to make the deal.
