The Los Angeles Clippers could make this offseason interesting for themselves.
Coming off of a 50-win season, it seems they believe they can compete with the Western Conference's elite if they make the right moves this offseason.
Those move could be as simple as getting dependable starters to fill their power forward spot and whichever backcourt spot they don't want James Harden to occupy.
It seems they're thinking bigger than that.
In a recent post on the Hardwood Paroxysm Substack, Matt Moore wrote that the Clippers are looking to add a big name this offseason.
"The Clippers are hunting for a name. Some superstars (older ones), some veteran guys with championship experience," Moore wrote.
They've already been linked to one big name this offseason as Lonzo Ball predicted his brother, LaMelo Ball, would be traded to the Clippers.
He's not the only name that could be available this offseason.
Teams around the league currently find themselves waiting to see what the future holds for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
That includes the Phoenix Suns, who are believed to be ready to shop Kevin Durant this offseason. They likely believe they can fetch a higher price for Durant if Giannis isn't on the market.
Of those three, Durant seems to be the most realistic option for the Clippers. They don't have nearly enough firepower to get a deal done for Giannis in his prime.
Ball could also be a bit too pricey as he is a younger star in the league.
Meanwhile, the price on Durant is supposedly coming down and should settle in somewhere reasonable because of his age.
Whoever it is that the Clippers end up going after, it sounds like they are ready to make one more push to contend this offseason.
