The NBA season is down to one final game, with the Indiana Pacers defending their home floor last night, forcing a game seven in Oklahoma City.

It was an extremely back-and-forth first quarter as both teams exchanged blows, but the Pacers led 28-25. According to StatMuse Indiana shot 8-of-25 (32.0%) from the field, 5-of-14 (35.7%) from three averaging 1.02 points per possession throughout the first 12 minutes.

On the other hand, the Thunder shot 11-of-21 (52.4%) from the field, 1-of-6 (16.7%) from three, averaging 0.93 points per possession. The NBA’s reigning MVP dropped seven points, but his team’s early five turnovers slowed their momentum down and gave the Pacers transition opportunities.

Fox personality Colin Cowherd, who has been slightly skeptical towards Oklahoma City’s title chances, believes their youth is what makes them vulnerable, pointing to last night.

“The debate on OKC has been this year, are they a great team? I mean they were 29-1 against the East in the regular season. They won on average by 12.9 points a game, an NBA record point differential. A suffocating defense, unbelievable at home, fourth-most regular season wins ever,” Cowherd said.

“Well it’s been confirmed, they're not a great team, they're a very good team. In a finals clinching game they had their lowest output of the season offensively and the most turnovers, and again a 36-9 run by Indy,” he added.

To be fair, Cowherd acknowledged just about everything that the Thunder have going for them, however, he’s pumping the brakes on regarding the squad as a historically great team.

“OKC’s very good. They’ve got those young legs and young energy, and sometimes, they have a number one scorer, they got size and they’ve got depth. But age and youth gives you a huge variance. Jalen Williams, 40 points in game five. Minus 40 in game six, that’s the variance you get.”
