The 2025 First Overall Pick in the NBA Draft, Cooper Flagg, is an intriguing prospect in fantasy basketball this season. As he is not only one of the most anticipated rookies over the last few years since Victor Wembanyama, but he’s also going to be the Mavericks’ second option until Kyrie Irving returns from his ACL injury later this season. I love Flagg a lot on my board for fantasy because I think he’s going to be an awesome NBA player and a great fantasy asset in his rookie year. So let’s dive into Flagg’s 2025-26 fantasy outlook to see why you’ll love his prospects like I do.

Cooper Flagg’s 2024-25 Production

In his one season with the Duke Blue Devils, Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. He won the Naismith College Player of the Year award, along with the Wooden Award, along with other awards while leading the Blue Devils to the Final Four last season. His all-around numbers at Duke should translate well to NBA fantasy basketball this upcoming season as well. Speaking of the upcoming season, here are his projections for the upcoming season.

ESPN has Flagg as their 35th-ranked player in their fantasy metrics for the upcoming season, with the following projections: 19.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.54 A/TO, 1.1 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game with 48.1% shooting from the field, and 84.5% shooting from the free throw line this season as he’ll play as second fiddle to Anthony Davis to begin the season.

His versatile game is worthy of strong consideration for a draft spot alone in the early to mid rounds, and he could be a fringe late second-round value by the end of the season, in my estimation. The former Duke star, according to FantasyPros, is the 36th-ranked player with the following projections: 1,403 points, 495 rebounds, 283 assists, 90 steals, and 74 blocks in 2,413 minutes this season.

Final Thoughts

Cooper Flagg is going to be one of those League Winner-type picks that could make you hoist your hypothetical fantasy championship trophy and bragging rights to your league mates. Dallas is going to have another superstar to replace the one they got rid of for DEFENSE, and this kid’s defense is going to be next level over the next few years of his career.
