Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic Has Hilarious Explanation For Bonkers HORSE Shot vs. Houston Rockets
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

If you think Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic can’t do it all on the basketball court, then how do you explain this?

Doncic did have an explanation, though, for his ridiculous underhanded shot he made during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Houston Rockets.

“I wasn’t surprised. When I was young, I was bartending,” said during the postgame press conference, as reporters in the room laughed, (h/t Shane Young of Forbes Sports).

Not many players can pull off what Doncic did, especially when under duress. But that is also why Doncic is a special player. He finds ways to get buckets even when defenses are all over him like sauce on spaghetti. His shot also gave everyone an idea of just how deep the Mavs star’s bag is. He always has something to counter all kinds of defenses.

“To see him do that, I feel a lot of people got excited, but I think at the same time, that’s Luka,” Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd said after his team’s 125-107 win against Houston (via ESPN). “He’s always able to make tough shots. He’s Picasso. Give him the paintbrush, he’s going to do something special. That shot was pretty special.”

Doncic ended his day with 47 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists, while making 18 of his 30 attempts from the field and nine of his 16 shots from deep.

Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks Tame the Rockets

The Rockets entered the Mavs game riding an 11-game undefeated streak. But their run ended at the hands of Doncic and Dallas, which, in turn, extended their win streak to seven games. The Dallas Mavericks also now own the longest undefeated run in the league with seven wins straight.

Dallas can add to that on Tuesday when the Mavs finish their four-game road trip in San Francisco versus the Golden State Warriors.
