Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns might have bid adieu to the NBA for this season. But it looks like Booker is inspiring a lot of upcoming stars of the league. The Suns’ star was pretty much upset following his team’s playoff exit. But Darryn Peterson’s recent statement will surely make him happy.
Kansas Jayhawks’ 19-year-old star is making ripples at the moment. With his five-star performances, Darryn Peterson will likely generate major buzz when he enters the NBA scene. But before that, the youngster is keeping a close eye on the big names of the league. And of course, on the 29-year-old athlete.
In a recent interaction with Ramona Shelbourne, Peterson confessed to the NBA player he admired the most. “He wants to play PG in the NBA. I asked him what player he admired the most, he said Devin Booker. I said well, he’s not a point guard,” Shelbourne said.

Currently, the 5-time NBA All-Star is expected to lead Phoenix for a long time. Thus, once Peterson comes to the NBA, he will have the opportunity to learn more from Booker’s game and might also rub shoulders with him as an opponent.
However, the 19-year-old also named Anthony Edwards, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Donovan Mitchell. He wanted to observe their game closely and learn about how all the stars use different tactics to create space within the court.
Meanwhile, looking to take the league by storm, Peterson wants to be the best.
The Jayhawks’ star will have a tough fight for the potential No.1 spot in the 2026 draft. Giving him a close contest will be BYU’s A.J. Dybansta. Speaking of his health, Peterson admitted to Shelbourne that he was experiencing a lot of cramping due to excess creatine in his system. Thankfully, once he had stopped taking the supplements, the symptoms subsided.
Now, focusing on his NBA goal, the 19-year-old said via a story on ‘Andscape,’ “I am a point guard. I’m the best when I have the ball in my hands. Off the court, I’m going to be the best pro.”
Surely, after showing so much promise, the team now needs to implement those ideas effectively, and fans will closely watch how it unfolds.
