Sacramento Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox may be on the trade market, but there is one place that is definitely not interested in, if recent rumors are to be believed. Despite having a connection through his agency, Fox is reportedly not interested in being part of the Los Angeles Lakers.

As the trade deadline nears, more and more names are being shuffled as teams manage their roster and salary caps and shift priorities and strategies. As the Kings fell short of its preseason expectations, they are expected to make efforts to bolster their roster.

However, Fox may be going anywhere but LA. As reported by NBA insider Shams Charania, that is one place that is not on the point guard’s list.

“The only thing I can say with Rich Paul, we know he’s got LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the Lakers,” Charania said. “I’m told the Lakers are not part of that destination of choice for De’Aaron Fox, potentially. But he is now potentially entering the NBA’s trade market.”

De’Aaron Fox has been the face of the Sacramento Kings since he joined the team as the No. 5 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. For the 2024-2025 season, he’s averaging 25.2 points per game and 6.2 assists.

Fox is represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group, the same agency that represents NBA superstar LeBron James. joined Klutch Sports in November 2022, after deciding to switch from his previous agency, Family First Sports Firm, and away from his previous agent, Chris Gaston.

Even before, Fox made it clear that the decision to change representation was not linked to any desire to be traded but rather more about enhancing his business opportunities and overall career management.

LeBron James on the other hand, has been under Rich Paul and Klutch Sports since its opening in 2012. James was playing for the Miami Heat back then. He joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018, starting with a four-year, $153.3 million contract, and left the Cleveland Cavaliers.

De’Aaron Fox: Nets Trade Suggested

In a separate report from NBA reporter Ian Begley, De’Aaron Fox was linked to a potential trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

“The Nets, per sources, are among the teams that view De’Aaron Fox as a trade target and have been monitoring the Fox situation in SAC,” Begley said. “He is under contract through 2025-26. Nets, obviously, have significant trade assets to use to acquire a player of Fox’s caliber. There will be plenty of teams calling the Kings on Fox ahead of the Feb 6 trade deadline.”
