De’Aaron Fox will miss Wednesday’s Game 2 as he continues to struggle with a right ankle sprain, Shams Charania reports for ESPN (Twitter link).
The Spurs were without their All-Star point guard in their Game 1 victory, and they turned to Dylan Harper to fill his shoes. The rookie contributed a historic game for a player his age, with 24 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and seven steals.
Justin Martinez of The Oklahoman notes (via Twitter) that San Antonio is starting the same group in Game 2 that they did in Game 1.
While the Spurs were initially optimistic that they would have Fox back for Game 2, in taking Game 1 on the road, they accomplished an important goal of lessening the Thunder’s homecourt advantage. By doing so, they may have bought Fox more time to recover, rather than rushing back before he’s ready, writes Rylan Stiles of Locked On Thunder (via Twitter).
Fox’s next chance to suit up will be Game 3, which tips off on Friday.
