DeMarcus Cousins hits back at Kevin Durant’s denial about fights breaking out in the Phoenix Suns locker room

Durant and Cousins trade barbs on social media after the latter’s report

Cousins appeared on Run It Back on FanDuel TV to speak about the Durant trade saga. However, he also spoke about what was happening in the Suns’ locker room during the 2024-25 season. He heard from a source that Phoenix’s players had fist fights, which is a wild story to break.

“It was never a complete team. It was never a team that made sense. You just put a bunch of scorers and threw some other names on it, and said, ‘Go win a championship.’ That’s not how the game of basketball works,” Cousins said on Run It Back.

“There were a lot of things that haven’t been reported. I don’t want to be the guy to report it, but I definitely heard negative things in the locker room. There were a couple of fistfights. Obviously, that carries over to the court.”

Social media got wind of Cousins’ report, which also reached Durant. The two-time Finals MVP is often online on X, where he talks to fans. It is also the platform where he confronts people, which led to him and Cousins going back and forth.

Durant hit back online at Cousins, denying the claims and branding it “bulls___”.

His former Golden State Warriors teammate took offense, writing: “The source was one of your teammates killa. ‍♂️ And I wasn’t referring to you! . Save this s___ for the others homie…”

Durant’s stint with the Suns will end soon

This is another reason why Durant is leaving the Suns. It has become a toxic environment due to the lack of success. The hype was on another level due to Durant joining a team with a star like Booker. Beal was the final piece of the puzzle, but it did not work out.

Now, Durant is on his way out with trades to Minnesota, Houston, Miami, and San Antonio all being possibilities. People like Stephen A. Smith believe Durant’s best-case scenario is with the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, they won’t give him the long-term extension he wants.

While Durant has dismissed the idea of fights in the Suns locker room, it has become a bad situation. He would have liked to keep going and fight it out for Phoenix, but that won’t happen.
