Dillon Brooks and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander may be teammates in the Canadian Basketball Team, but in the NBA, it looks like they are mortal enemies.
Just when we thought that the Thunder-Suns series would feature SGA versus Devin Booker, a different rivalry happened. Now, the chippiness has mostly occurred between Dillon Brooks and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. While there’s no doubt that Shai is the superior player, Brooks does not care one bit.
And in game four, their hatred for each other has continued. After a foul on top from Colin Gillespie, Dillon Brooks grabbed SGA with a clear intent to instigate another fiasco.

The technical was definitely warranted. The refs already blew the whistle. Brooks did not need to make an attempt on the play anymore. But this is what he does on a nightly basis – intimidate the opposing team’s best player.
It just happens that his foe this time is a fellow Canadian like him.
Whether the Oklahoma City Thunder has a special whistle from referees is a question saved for another day. Many fans aren’t entirely sold on their brand of basketball, especially on defense. Even opposing teams feel that some calls do favor OKC, or they get away with a ton of grabbing. And Dillon Brooks knows all of that even before the Suns faced the Thunder in the first round.
“There are a lot of foul baiters on that [Oklahoma City Thunder] team. We gotta show our hands. I hope it’s the real playoffs. Show your hands,” Brooks stated before the playoffs started.
Well, despite knowing a thing or two about how OKC operates, the Phoenix Suns are now out of title contention. The Oklahoma City Thunder completed their sweep in the first round. The team will now wait for the winner of the Lakers-Rockets series.
And for Dillon Brooks and the Suns, their summer just officially started.
