Dorian Finney-Smith's NBA career has been one of constant adjustment and reinvention. In so doing, he's quite arguably become the platonic ideal of basketball's plug-and-play glue guy.
After starting his college career at Virginia Tech, he achieved a national profile after transferring to play for Billy Donovan's Florida Gators, riding a Final Four appearance and two Second Team All-SEC nods to a role with the Dallas Mavericks after going undrafted in 2016.
What happened since? He became Mr. 3-and-D, growing into an opportunistic shooter with the kind of defensive switchability that would-be NBA contenders' front offices drool over.
It was only natural, then, that the 2025 offseason period would bring plenty of suitors for "Doe Doe" after the nine-year veteran declined his player option with the Los Angeles Lakers, who previously acquired him mid-season from the Brooklyn Nets -- and on June 30, we learned where the versatile forward was officially headed:
Back to Texas for a team-up with none other than Kevin Durant.
As first reported by ESPN's Shams Charania, let's take a closer look at the Houston Rockets' spiffy Dorian Finney-Smith contract.
