Double Vision: Suns’ Chris Paul drops dimes by the dozen

This space aims to identify players who represent good value for recording a double-double in a particular game. If they post double-digit totals in any two of the five main categories (points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals), backers will at least double their money – and sometimes make much more than that.

The bet: A double-double for Suns guard Chris Paul (+200 Barstool)

Having led the league in assists five times, including just last year, Paul now gets to feed one of the game’s premier scorers. New acquisition Kevin Durant tallied 23 points in his Suns debut on Wednesday night, and his first basket came on one of the point guard’s 11 dimes. But because Paul scored a season-low 2 points, this prop surprisingly offers the requisite return.

Last season, Paul recorded 34 double-doubles (and a pair of triple-doubles) across his 65 regular-season starts. Although he hasn’t been as prolific this season, separate heel and hip injuries caused him to miss a total of 21 games. Upon returning to action in late January, he was able to string together four straight dub-dubs.

Paul has also run the Bulls ragged since arriving in Phoenix. He posted double-digit points and assists in each of his three games against them, averaging 17.3 and 13.3.

In addition to actual assists, the NBA tracks potential ones – instances when a pass leads directly to a shot or free throw. Since Paul ranks fourth in the league with 17 potential assists per game, we’re betting that his teammates convert enough of them to get us home.
