The Warriors’ dynasty once thrived on trust, toughness and total buy-in. Right now, Draymond Green doesn’t see enough of any of it.
After Golden State’s sixth straight road loss — a 126-102 thumping in Oklahoma City — Green questioned whether everyone in the locker room is still as committed to winning as they once were.
“I think everybody was committed to winning back then and doing that any way possible,” Green said, via ESPN’s Anthony Slater, referring to last season’s post–Jimmy Butler trade surge. “Right now, it doesn’t feel that way.”
The Warriors went 23-8 after landing Butler in February, finishing last season with renewed chemistry and belief. They opened this year with a 5-1 start and a win over the Lakers.
Since then, the schedule’s caught up, the effort’s dipped, and Green’s patience has worn thin.
“I think everyone has a personal agenda in this league,” Green said. “But you have to make those agendas work within the team.
“If it doesn’t work, you’ve got to get rid of your agenda — or eventually the agenda is the cause of someone getting rid of you.”
That message seemed aimed in multiple directions.
Brandin Podziemski raised eyebrows before the season by saying he wants to “be better than Steph Curry,” while Jonathan Kuminga spent much of the summer locked in a tense contract standoff.
Both have shown flashes, but both have struggled with turnovers and inconsistency during the Warriors’ recent slide.
Meanwhile, Curry has been battling illness and uncharacteristic shooting woes, hitting just 16-of-42 shots over his last two games. He admitted he’s been pressing to find his rhythm.
“I kinda fell into that agenda thing myself,” Curry said. “But commitment to winning isn’t about shots falling. It’s about running the floor, rebounding, taking care of the basketball.”
The Warriors head to San Antonio next, banged up and searching for answers. Green might sit out, Curry’s status is uncertain, and the vibes are anything but championship-level.
What’s clear is that the Warriors’ dynasty isn’t losing only games right now. It’s losing the edge that once made them impossible to beat.
