Draymond Green reflects on Jordan Poole punch video: 'Quite frankly I don't care about people's opinion'

It was the punch heard 'round the NBA, but it was never really supposed to be seen.

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green punching his teammate, Jordan Poole, was a story before the video came out. Anytime there's drama on a contender, it tends to make the news, right? It makes sense.

The punch went from a story to a national headline when the video of the altercation was leaked by someone in the Warriors organization.

Green didn't know it was going to come out, but he also didn't seem to care that his punch "blew up" seemingly overnight.

“You never really know people’s opinions right away, so you give people some time to throw their opinion out, which, quite frankly I don’t care about people’s opinion," Green said in a pre-taped segment for TNT. "To be totally honest with you, I never really knew how much it blew up. Because I don’t spend much time searching Instagram or looking through comments."

Green may not know or care about the national attention his punch received. That doesn't change the fact that it was first-page news for a few days -- even drawing the attention of Saturday Night Live

With the season underway, "the punch" may fade into obscurity and fall victim to the 24/7 news cycle, but if the Warriors -- or Draymond specifically -- struggle at all this year, look for "the punch" storyline to follow Golden State throughout the duration of 2022-23.
