Draymond Green’s WSOP shoutout earns response from poker legend

Draymond Green and Phil Hellmuth already seem like natural allies, given their respective personas, but the latter’s fierce allegiance to the Golden State Warriors is obviously going to please the four-time NBA champion. Green took the opportunity to spotlight the “The Poker Brat” during the final table of the 2026 World Series of Poker Main Event, and in the process, he kind of landed a jab on the remaining participants.

“After starting with 9,000 players, we got seven players left. They’re looking to win $10 million dollars and also this bracelet, only 16 less than the great Phil Hellmuth,” the  36-year-old forward quipped from the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino and Horseshoe Las Vegas on Tuesday night, per the official WSOP X account. The gesture was met with a great amount of gratitude.

“Thanks for the shout out Day Day!!” Hellmuth posted on X. The 1989 Main Event champion is arguably the greatest tournament player of all-time and also boasts one of the biggest personalities the game has ever seen. Besides snagging a bracelet in five different decades, Hellmuth is known for his occasional outbursts and rants. Sound familiar?
